FAQ

What is 48 Countries: 48 Women?

A community-driven, women-only pick-up soccer event bringing together 48 women to represent the 48 countries in this year’s men's top tournament.

Is this a tournament?

No. This is a pick-up style event, not a formal tournament. Games will be small-sided with rotating teams to keep things fun, social, and dynamic.

Is this event co-ed?

No, this is a women and women-identifying only event.

What does it mean to “represent a country”?

It’s about celebrating the global nature of the game. Each player represents a country to bring different cultures, identities, and stories onto one field. It’s symbolic, not a formal team structure.

Do I have to be from the country I represent?

Ideally, yes, but not necessarily. While we’re prioritizing players with a clear connection to each country, representation can also reflect heritage, identity, or personal ties.

How are teams decided?

Teams will be rotated and mixed throughout the event. This is not country vs. country — the focus is on playing, connecting, and building community.

What level do I need to play?

All levels are welcome, though having some playing experience helps keep the flow of the games.

Why this event?

To create more space for women to play, connect, and be visible in the global game,  especially in a city as diverse as NYC.
